The past week has been a bit of a whirlwind for me. Not sure if I’m alone here or not but it seems that January is a bit of a hectic month after trying to regain normalcy after the holidays. I find myself feeling like I am playing catchup, while still also finding a new ebb and flow for the New Year.
I understand why people say that a New Year’s resolution is something that is hard to sustain simply because there must be a lifestyle behind it to support it. That is what I have found myself working on daily.
What lifestyle do I need to be able to maintain and sustain what I want to do, and all the things I have to do daily. I still have to say that even in all of that I am still really excited about what 2023 will bring, and all the changes that we will see unfold in Rocket City.
Whether it be all the new restaurants, businesses, events, and just our city’s growth in general, I’m here for it all. My philosophy is that I want to be a part of the movers and shakers while change is emerging then to try and get in where I fit in once it’s crowded. Why do I say that? Coming from California where “everyone is someone,” you learn really quickly that you best have a nuance that makes you stand-outable (I know this isn’t a real word please don’t write me to complain).
This is one of the reasons why I love Huntsville; it hasn’t become numb to the beauty of there being room for everyone. So, here’s my official cheers to us and the new year.
Now to what you have been waiting for.
Birch On Main grand opening
When: Friday from 4:30-8 p.m.
Where: 2310 Whitesburg Drive, Suite 2, Huntsville
Tickets: No tickets required.
That’s right Birch on Main has left Village of Providence and moved to a new location. Join them for their grand opening in the Whitesburg area, with hors d’oeuvres and drinks. I once did a styled shoot wearing two of their dresses and holy moly let me tell you it changed my perspective of bridal fashion.
If you know someone getting married and are looking for exceptional service and beautiful style, this one’s for you.
Clue On Stage
When: Jan. 21-28, time varies
Where: Von Braun Center Playhouse, 700 Monroe St. SW, Huntsville
Price: $24, discounts available for military, seniors and students
Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, “Clue” is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. A great night or day out with friends or family (preteens and up).
Co-op Community Table and Bar
When: Opened in August 2022
Where: Embassy Suites by Hilton Huntsville, 800 Monroe St. SW
Price: menu varies
From craft cocktails, local brews, and a menu filled with seasonal and sustainable ingredients from local farms and purveyors, this is a dining experience you don’t want to miss. Though it’s been open since August, I think this place needs more publicity than it’s been getting. It is giving modern flair with southern and fusion flavor.
