This promises to be a tasty day at the golf course.
The Links will have its 15th annual Chili Cookoff and Golf Scramble on Oct. 26 at 9 a.m. Four-member teams compete in a scramble format and then enjoy homemade contest chili.
Each team must enter a pot of chili for the contest – one pot per team is requested.
Cost is $45 for members and $60 for nonmembers.
“The MWR (morale, welfare and recreation) events here at the Links are a great value,” Tim Wiseman, an operations assistant at the Links, said. “You get free range balls, breakfast. There’s closest to the pin contests, there are tee gifts and prizes based on team scores. So it’s a good value for the money you spent for an outing.”
This marks the first tournament for the new general manager of the Links, Gary Haught. He came to Redstone from Roanoke, Virginia; and his first day was Oct. 1. “He’s a good guy,” Wiseman said.
