Redstone’s child and youth professionals focused Friday on getting better at their jobs.

About 170 members of Child and Youth Services plus invited participants from elsewhere attended their annual conference, “Perfect Vision 2020: Your Future Coming into Focus.” The full day of training was held at the Community Activity Center.

After the Garrison commander’s welcome, there were more than 30 classes in various rooms at the center, building 3711 on Patton Road.

“And our training is a wide spectrum from how to change diapers in our child development centers, to recreational activities for school-age children, and from social to educational skills for our middle school/teen teachers,” Andre Terry, chief of Child and Youth Services, said.

“Our end goal and where we want to be with this is we’re trying to build this into a regional conference where we have partnerships inside the gate, outside the gate, state to state and with various installations in a similar profession.”
