After struggling for the first three innings, Got the Runs got their bats going.
Travis Garrett started an eight-run fourth as Got the Runs beat rival Hit Circus, 19-8 on May 6 at NASA softball field 1. He led off the fourth with a double and scored as Got the Runs sent 12 batters to the plate. They added 10 runs in the fifth.
“We started off slow and then the bats woke up,” player/coach Carl Williams said. “And we had a couple of good innings and that was it.”
Garrett, David Whitener, Erik Buatte and Daniel Walker had three hits apiece for Got the Runs (2-1). Buatte, Walker and winning pitcher Aaron Mair drove in four runs apiece. Garrett, Buatte and Walker each doubled. Mair added two hits, a walk and two runs scored.
Andrew White went 3-for-3 with a triple and a double for Hit Circus (1-2). Scott Ringel, Blake McBride, Jeff Klop and player/coach Tony Fiorucci had two hits apiece. John Seigh took the lost. The teams play in Division A.
“We made way too many mistakes on a good-hitting team,” Fiorucci said. “And they hit well, and it cost us in the end.”
