Space Jam responded when their double-digit lead evaporated early in the second half.
They pulled away again to beat the Blouses 89-61 on Dec. 9 at the Marshall Wellness Center. Space Jam stayed unbeaten at 3-0.
Mikhail George had 30 points, with six 3-pointers, and five rebounds. Brett Bouldin had 20 points on four 3-pointers with eight rebounds and two assists. Adam Kimbro had 13 points, five rebounds and two steals. Gabe Barker had 12 points, five rebounds and three steals. Team captain Byrd Hayes added two assists.
“Even though it’s not Sunday, there’s a lot of faith in the building,” Hayes said. “There’s a lot of trust in the team. And everybody had the green light.”
Space Jam led 41-24 at halftime but were up just 44-40 with 13:55 left. They made it 56-45 at 9:20.
“I feel like we played pretty good,” Barker, small forward/shooting guard, said. “We played together. We played good on defense with communication.”
Barker played at St. Francis High School in Chicago from 2013-17.
Justin Wright had 19 points, Mike Flanagan 16 and team co-captain Chasen Uptain 13 for Blouses (1-2). Wright made two assists. Chris Loepker grabbed 14 rebounds while Flanagan had seven.
“We’re out of shape,” Uptain said. “No effort, no hustle. We’ll be all right by the middle of the season.”
