Every batter in the Rotorheads lineup had at least one hit.
The result was a 19-10 win over Hits & Mits, June 17 at NASA softball field 1. They play in the coed Marshall Division.
“Bats were hot,” Rotorheads shortstop/coach Larry Cothren said. “Pitching was good. And defense was OK.”
Davida Webster went 3-for-4 with a two-run triple, a double, three runs batted in and a run scored. Tim Peavy, Matt Phillips and Rob Smith added three hits apiece for Rotorheads (5-2). Juan Hall, Brandi Cooper, Corey Singleton and Jeff Johnson added two hits apiece.
The Rotorheads pounded 22 hits, four for extra bases, and they scored in all but the sixth inning.
Smith pitched the six-inning win. He allowed six earned runs on 16 hits with one strikeout and one walk. The Rotorheads committed three errors but they turned a 4-6-3 double play.
Steve Funderburk had three hits for Hits & Mits (2-5). Josh King, Joe Kuner and Pat Sumera added two hits apiece. Pitcher/coach Barton Harper took the loss.
“Just good hitting on the other team’s part,” Harper said. “Very good hitting and solid defense.”
