In an effort to raise awareness for domestic violence, the Family Advocacy Program is holding the Run in their Shoes 5K on Oct. 22. Runners will “take strides against domestic violence” starting at 7 a.m. at the ChildWise building, 3467 Vincent Drive. Signups start at 6:30 and opening remarks are expected to take place around 6:45.
The 5K course will leave out from the ChildWise building and head down Phoenix Road to Kingfisher Road, then down Cajun Drive and loop back to the beginning. The route will be clearly marked the day of the race, and volunteers and law enforcement will be on hand to ensure runners can navigate the intersections safely. The event is free.
All runners are asked to do is show up ready to run and don’t forget to wear purple to show your support.
For those who would not refer to themselves as runners, there will also be a course set up for a one-mile walk.
