Volley Von Braun has a dynamic duo on its front line.
Ethan Walker and Chad Bigoney led their team to two wins Sept. 16 on the west volleyball court at the Marshall Wellness Center. Volley Von Braun beat Scared Hitless 25-18, 25-11 and then outscored Spiked Punch 25-11, 25-17.
Walker had 10 kills and eight aces for Volley Von Braun (5-1). Bigoney had 13 kills and seven aces.
“The team came out fired up and ready to play,” Walker, the player/captain, said. “Denise (Bigoney) carried us with her serves.”
Denise Bigoney, Chad’s mother, served two aces. Frank Thomas and Ava Kazemi added three aces apiece.
Spiked Punch outlasted Scared Hitless in the nightcap 25-13, 23-25, 15-7.
Player/captain Greg Cmarik had 15 aces and five kills for Spiked Punch (1-5). Jason Mishtawy had seven kills and three aces. Anne Garber added five aces and four kills. Eliza Dellert made two kills.
“I feel like we definitely improved throughout the game,” Cmarik said. “It’s the early part of the season. Hadn’t had any practice. So we’re getting better.”
Tim Hester had four kills and two aces for Scared Hitless (0-6). Co-captain Jonathan Bryant delivered three digs and two kills. Austin Decker had four aces and three kills. Jodi Turk made two kills and two aces. Bunny Brooks and Taylor Goodwin had two digs apiece.
“We’re a new team. We just got together this season,” Bryant said. “We’re still learning each other’s styles. Our passing and setting is doing a lot better tonight.”
