The lineup at the next level just got stronger.

Just think of the pitching rotation. Tom Seaver. Bob Gibson. Whitey Ford.

These Baseball Hall of Famers died in recent weeks. Seaver got the call-up Aug. 31. Gibson died Oct. 2. Ford left us Oct. 8.

They were among my favorite pitchers as a child. I remember rooting for and against them while pulling for my hometown Philadelphia Phillies.

We lost another great one days later. Joe “Little Joe” Morgan, the Hall of Fame second baseman, died Oct. 11. He too is now a member of the legendary lineup upstairs.

I’m glad I got to watch them during their playing careers. Their accomplishments live on in the baseball record books. We can still watch them play in old videos on YouTube.

Maybe we’ll get to see them play again someday at the next level.
