The Links served as the venue Sunday for FootGolf, a first-year sport in the weekend’s 37th annual Alabama State Games. There were two competitors in age 18-45 and three in 46-over. FootGolf is like playing golf with a soccer ball.

After 18 holes on the Warrior course, the winners were Matt Brannan, 18-45, with a 3-over 75; and John Jordan, 46-over, with a 2-under 70. Jordan shot an impressive 5-under 31 on the back nine.

“All (five competitors) will be eligible to compete at the State Games of America at Lynchburg, Virginia, in August,” Sarah Bush, the event and program coordinator at the ASF Foundation, said. “The Alabama State Games serves as a qualifying competition. They will be representing Alabama at the State Games of America.”

ASF Foundation, a nonprofit corporation based in Montgomery, puts on the Alabama State Games every year.
