Rebounds were the difference in this 6-and-under basketball game.

The 6U American Legends dominated the boards in their 16-8 win over Redstone on Jan. 19 at the Youth Center.

Anakin Lahusky had four points and 11 rebounds for the Legends (3-1-1). Braxtyn Bernard had four points and seven rebounds. Reign Alonso and Adam Trenkle added four points apiece. Josiah Reeves made two assists.

The Legends outrebounded Redstone 31-16.

“We’ve been working on our passing a lot,” American coach Jon Lahusky said. “Passing and rebounding. A lot of our shots were second chance shots. We’ve been working on that a lot, and it paid off. They play a lot better than their height gives them credit for.”

American led 8-4 at halftime and 12-4 after three quarters.

Drew Rodriguez had six points, seven rebounds and seven steals for the Rockets (1-3).

“We played hard,” Redstone coach Kyle Graves said. “We did our best out there. We couldn’t quite make the shots. Had trouble rebounding out there. We’ll practice that and try to get better.”
