There’s nothing like opening day on the softball field.
That’s especially true when your team wins by double digits.
TBE Integrators enjoyed a 23-1 win over the Renegades in a season opener April 22 at NASA field 1. They play in the coed league Marshall Division.
Winning pitcher Austen Young went 4-for-4 with a double, triple, four runs batted in and four runs scored for the Teledyne Brown Engineering team.
“It was a good first game to shake the rust off,” player/coach Cristy Presson said. “Played great defense and everybody hit the ball.”
Garrett Williams was 3-for-4 with an inside-the-park homer, a triple and two RBIs. Andrew Broadfoot had three hits with a double and two RBIs. Andrew Walters, Michael Cluxton, Anna Green and Jacob Onken added two hits apiece.
Young allowed one run and five hits with two walks and one strikeout in four innings.
Renegades pitcher Jim Lomas took the loss but went 1-for-1 and scored a run. Bryce Cunningham had the RBI hit.
“It’s nice to be out here,” Renegades player/coach Preston Cupp said. “We’re trying out some new positions and working out the kinks.”
